What People Really Think About Facebook Timeline? [Comments]

Advertisement:

We covered Facebook Timeline stories since when it was first seen on the Facebook. Till then, we found that most of the users are hate the layout so much that they still cannot get used to it. We get real people’s comments about Facebook Timeline and compiled them. Check them out after the jump.

Facebook team should notice what people are saying about the Timeline and try to help them to give them a choice of enabling/disabling Timeline as a Facebook’s feature.

Comments of People about Facebook Timeline:

We select few comments that people posted on our page about the Facebook Timeline with the links to their profiles. Read them and give your remark as well.

Sander Diske Van Dijk

Since Timeline i have to disable it and now Facebook works less good then before.

Paul Fitzpatrick

The way Timeline displays comments in a boxed up fashion is terrible. The original format was a winner and should have been left alone.

Anna Alvarez Papaioannou

Do not like the way it is set up…You lose comments…Everything seems to be mished mushed…Something posts some do not…Too many approvals…It is ridiculous…

Suzanne Whitley-Ryder

I have a hard time trying to find some postings…and timeline will not let me see everything whilst the old method let me see all the postings. And I HATE TIMELINE!

Lexi Heath

Facebook Timeline slows down profile pages loading.

Alex Alexandre

Since Timeline was imposed I removed all my personal info from FB – want to see them time-lining ‘nothing’.

Brandy Faulkner

The things that are most visible on the new Timeline have the least value:

1) The % of the page that’s new and useful content (i.e. posts) is dwarfed by the giant boxes of non-pertinent info such as Friends, Likes, a Map (?!), a gargantuan background photo! One must scroll down quite a ways to see actual content. As a result, I’ve stopped visiting individual pages.

2) Photos posted to the timeline are cut off! They’re cropped.

3) The main profile photo is gargantuan. It takes up the entire first page.

Steven May

I disabled it from all browsers, thanks to your advice. It’s a terrible decision by a company that cares more about appearances than its users (and making a profit, apparently).

Alan Frost

It feels much cluttered compared to the old layout and its design feels less intuitive. There is also a lot of “prime” space used by irrelevant things. Worst of all though, I fail to understand why we are simply not allowed to choose the format we like best.

Linda Skydiver Ducharme

I have had timeline remove posts that I can never retrieve, and they were done randomly, without my choice. I mean that really sucks…

Paul Schewene

All timeline has done, is loaded up my profile page with garbage. It’s as disorganized as 50,000 drunks all trying to find one toilet at the same time. Finding anything on my page is like looking for a needle in the haystack. Even when I log in, I find so much garbage in my feed I can’t stand it… garbage that wasn’t there before I got Timeline rammed down my throat by the bastards who run Facebook and continue to ignore their users.

BOTTOM LINE: I preferred it just how it was BEFORE timeline. And I’ve cut my use of Facebook exponentially, just BECAUSE the bastards forced this load of crap on us. I’m ready to go to another service and am evaluating other services DAILY.

Sarah Clemson

I hate it, we have been forced to have it, it is unorganized, and hard to follow you should have asked people if they want it! Those who do have it those who don’t! Since I’ve been forced to have it I no longer visit my wall! I use my phone instead of my laptop now and hardly use Facebook, where I was on it every day I now only come on once in a while!

Martin Edward Park Johnson

I have to agree wholeheartedly with what others have said. The layout is so cluttered up and impossible to understand. The cutting off of photos in their entirety is a pain in the neck plus some comments do seem to get lost. The old layout was so neat and tidy and easy to work with. Finally to give us no choice about the matter is undiplomatic. Inviting us to “try” it out and making it impossible to change back is mean. Not to mention other diabolical tactics. I’ve figured out that the games on Facebook were rigged so that anybody who wanted to play them would be Timelined. That’s apparently how I was caught. Facebook you are unfair and we don’t like it.

Dee Manditch

As a person with multiple learning disabilities it is harder to read I also have octal issues due to Chronic Lyme Disease neurologically you have made it impossible for me to read my page I now can only use an iPod or have someone read it for me wish you would consider making changes to be optional for people that have these issues!!!

Jaboa Hampton

My photos have been rearranged, the box timeline looks tacky and just plan terrible. Personal info is not as safe as the original settings. All the older messages that were there before the timeline are now deleted, even though I may have wanted to go back a review them for good reasons! Enough said, Facebook screwed up big time. They could have given us a format option or a vote poll!!
Kind of gives that invasion of privacy feeling. However I know worst could have been done. Just a big mess…

Candi Gomez

The layout is hard to follow. It’s impossible to go back and find something if if later I want to show friends a post they missed on their newsfeeds. The boxes remind me of a poorly-put together freebie puzzle on an ad-ridden game site.

There’s a REASON I use a timeline change display browser add-on that lines all the annoying boxes up in a nice neat column. And Facebook keeps altering their programming to make such programs hard to use, including erasing settings from them and blocking them outright. Timeline ‘remove’ (display altering) programs are being used for a *reason*. Doesn’t that tell them anything?

Alexander Zarach

Facebook Timeline is too ‘smart’ for its own good, disorganized despite claiming to be otherwise. Harder to find what you want, doesn’t display everything

Dave Whitehouse

Timeline is cluttered, unorganized and slow, it’s not even worth looking at your own page or anyone else’s cause you can’t find stuff.

Samantha Ciervo

I never wanted timeline, but I wasn’t really given a choice. I saw that alot of my friends were getting timeline so I checked Facebook’s out to see if I would get it. To be blunt it looks disorganized, and it requires allot more effort to use. But, after I saw how it looked on my friends I decided against getting it. a couple of weeks later a thing popped up like a notification saying you have until blah blah blah to get time line or it will automatically be installed Some people might like it, but I am not one of those people. And I know that I am not only speaking for myself, but a majority of the people I know would rather have the original fb back.

Enzinna Arguijo

I hate it. Hard to keep track of my postings and comments, I use it as little as possible. I like to keep my stuff on chronological order.

Jörgen Lindell

Facebook Timeline is totally ignoring important usability guidelines. You should NEVER present things that are supposed to be read in sequence in a multi column format that forces the reader to hop back and forth between columns. It confuses the reader, causes strain for the eyes, and is also plain ugly, giving a cluttered impression. It is just plain ignorance on Facebook’s part to not know about this, or stupidness to ignore if they know.

Bill Sprague

I find it extremely annoying to have to update my Timeline on each of my four connected devices. Apparently deleting items on one device does not result in a deletion across all of my devices or, most importantly on the FB servers. I’ve found friends responding to posts I’d thought I’d deleted for days only to find it still existed somewhere. In my view Timeline reflects FB’s lackadaisical attitude in re: user account security.

Joro ILIEV

It is not Timeline. IT is TimelineS. Or, to describe this stupidity even better, TimeZigZags!

Taryn Egidio

FB Timeline Employees: You need to give all FB users the option to hide ALL of their comments and Likes from Timeline. It’s really screwed to let people think their comments and likes are private and then suddenly retroactively show ALL of what used to be private. Would you be happy if this were to happen to you?

Lisa Haase

Damn arbitrary aesthetic improvements. Why does Facebook get the right to decide what view we want and then force us to accept it? I hate these people who think they know what is best for everyone make decisions on our behalf. I don’t remember voting for anything like this.

Don Holloway

Facebook created Timeline and only Facebook can disable it. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO, will not disable Timeline because he does not care what Facebook users think about it. Facebook is his toy and he will do with it as he pleases. He knows that you will not give up Facebook because you can’t live without it. That’s why he doesn’t care what you think. He’s a kid with billions of dollars who is just telling you to screw yourself. And you will always listen to him because he controls you. Whether you believe that or not, it’s true and it has always been true since he invented Facebook.
