Peter Carl Fabergé 166th Birthday – Google Doodle [30-May-2012]
Today is the 166th birthday of a well known Russian jeweler Peter Carl Fabergé. Google has come up with a Peter Carl Fabergé Google Doodle on its homepage to pay tribute to the artist. Carl was known for the renowned Fabergé eggs, made in the fashion of actual Easter eggs, but using expensive metals and gemstones instead of ordinary materials. Read more for details and pictures.
Peter Carl Fabergé was born on May 30, 1846. He used to create beautiful Fabergé eggs. A Fabergé egg is any one of the thousands of jeweled eggs made by the House of Fabergé from 1885 to 1917. In 1900, Peter’s work showcased in Russia at the 1900 World’s fair in Paris. He died on September 24, 1920 in Switzerland. His family assumed that he died of a broken heart as Peter Carl Fabergé not at all recovered from the distress of the Russian Revolution.
Peter Carl Fabergé Google Doodle is demonstrating the jeweled Fabergé eggs similar to those made by Peter Carl. Six eggs in the Doodle are representing the six alphabets of the “Google”. The Google doodle is static and simple for the great artist of his era.
