About Keith Haring:
Keith Haring became famous in the art world with his courageous, cartoon and graffiti subjective works during the 1980s. In Kutztown, Pennsylvania, he spent many hours sketching with his father. Haring was mesmerized by the trendy cartoon art of Walt Disney and Charles Schultz. In 1982, Haring had his first New York one-man show at the Shafrazi Gallery.
He used the NY city as his canvas, making chalk drawings of barking dogs and babies in subway stations. In June 1989, on the back wall of the convent of the Church of Sant’Antonio, he painted the last public work of his life, the mural called the “Tuttomondo”, in conjunction with 6 animated inserts for Sesame Street. Keith Haring died of AIDS on February 16, 1990, in the age of 31 years only.
