Android Honeycomb 3.0 Tablet Overview With February 2 Event Video
Google yesterday organized an event where they demonstrated the new Android 3.0 Honeycomb on Motorola Xoom Tablet for the first time. A video of the whole event is now accessible on YouTube. Honeycomb overview and 2nd of Feb event video ahead.
In this video you will see various aspects of Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS, well presented by Hugo Barra (Group Product Manager, Google). Some important features are below while other you can see in the video.
He showed the latest Homescreen, which includes a new widget, notification system and also featured with a new multitasking menu.
We can also see that Honeycomb uses hardware acceleration for interpreting the 3D as well as 2D graphics on the screen, which makes them much smoother. He also presented Fruit Ninja on the tablet, which is the exactly same version that we can download today on Android Smartphone. Simply means that Honeycomb is fully compatible with Android applications we have in our Android devices now.
Another feature of Honeycomb is application fragments, which allow splitting the screen into multiple sections and when a particular section calls for another screen, the panels on the screen slide out to make area for the new one instead of opening in a new window.
Honeycomb also uses a new graphics engine called Render Script, which enabled high performance 3D graphics in applications. This can be seen in applications such as YouTube or the Books app, which use a 3D carousal for the items. An amazing new Google Body application is added, which is like Google Earth for the human body.
Honeycomb also adds native support for video chat, something that has been missing from Android all this time.
